Day 1 - Amuse Society
If you've been here since the beginning, you know that I don't Coachella - I Coachellite. I don't go to the musical festival because I don't want to melt under the Indio sun or get swept away in a windstorm. So my version of Coachella is to vacay in Palm Springs for the weekend while hitting the best fetes. This year, I kicked off Coachellite with Amuse Society at their Dazed & Amused pool party. Sidenote: Almost all Coachella parties are pool parties because you know...the high chance of melting. I was admittedly very late because all traffic centers around Greater Los Angeles are a vortex of evils, so I had to make up for lost time in the last hour ie. seeing how many make-your-own-mimosas by Moet and specialty Svedka cocktails I could have by 4. I had 5.
As usual, I was trying to channel Lisa Bonet in the 90s (aka Zoe Kravitz in 2016) in my H&M red crop top, round sunnies, and black maxi skirt which has become a huge staple in my closet this spring. A chill look for a chill event.
Day 2 Zoeasis + Popsugar Cabana Club
Along with being the (self-proclaimed) queen of bohemian style, I'm also the queen of doing things at the last minute. I never finished a term paper in high school without having to pull an all-nighter. I've never had a manicure I haven't ruined running out of the door. So instead of working with some of my favorite brands to get festival-ready, I was running around to my go-to consignment stores in search of the perfect dress for not just any party, but a Rachel Zoe party. If you ever want to see models out in the wild, and how little airbrushing magazines actually do, that's the place to be - I had to come correct! Somehow, the universe saw fit to put this gorgeous Free People dress right in my path. It gave me intense boho desert bride vibes once I paired it with my flower crown, surrounded by the lush Palm Springs landscape at the Zoeasis. I'm always a sucker for Free People, but this dress was so special. The beaded trim and crochet details were my favorite part and the fit was so dreamy. Between us, anytime I can go without a bra is a good time to me.
Both Guess and Superga were in attendance, and while I don't usually wear pants or sneakers - their tents were cool af. Guess, shoutout btw for the fan that was saving my life out there, had a denim bar where you could pick your favorite shorts and customize them with patches and distressing tools. I do mean tools...I spotted a sander. Superga let you customize your sneaks with a paint spin station. Think of it as tie-dye for shoes, a colorwheel for your kicks. Literally, so much fun in one place that it was hard to leave...but Popsugar awaited.
The Cabana Club, which is where I cut my teeth on Coachella last year, did not disappoint. My expectations were high after getting to sit 10 feet from Zoe Kravitz as she preformed. This year's Jhene Aiko mellowed us out with her lilting voice, DSW gave out some adorable shoes (more to come on that), there was a candy bar from Netflix in honor of the new season of Kimmy Schmidt (do you love? I'm obsessed), and spiked snowballs - which was my favorite trend at Coachellite this year.
Day 3 - Nylon Pool Party
You don't drive all the way to the desert and not pack in all the parties you can, so before heading out until 2017, we hit the Nylon Pool Party. First thing I spied? Spiked snowballs! What. A. Treat. The perfect thing for chilling grotto-side (that's totally a grotto, right?) while listening to vintage hip-hop, watching girls get braided up, and playing with the latest in flash tat technology.
I actually planned to wear a bell-sleeved, lace-up dress, but it felt too fussy for the day. I went with my black maxi skirt from day 1 (I seriously live in that thing) and the Amuse Society muscle tee that I got from their pool party. It's soooooo sooooffftttt. I basically wanted to be as comfy as possible - goal achieved!
I'm off to sleep for 48 hours straight, until next year!
