Did everyone survive NYFW? I decided to go super last minute, and I think ya girl is officially retiring after this one. L.A. has just made me way to soft for New York. Imagine my utter shock at re-discovering that any and all subway stations are 100 degrees with 100% humidity at all times. Also, I was so prepared for a crisp New York fall, and got sunny summer days. No complaints, it was gorgeous - but I'm ready for fall not now, but right now. I was apple cider and boots and impeccable pea coats. I want velvet and cashmere for days. I did get to sleep under my handknit blanket for the first time since winter, so I feel like fall is creeping into Los Angeles, Slowly, very slowly, but surely.
With fall approaching - I'm bringing out my favorite pre-Fall pieces like this dress from Gozon! I love the cool color palette with it emphasis on blues, oranges, and yellows. Even though its a floral dress, the print plays with the traditional tones of autumn so this dress will work from now into winter. I can't wait until it's chilly enough outside to pair it was a gorgeous winter white coat or old school trench. I'm typically not a fan of short-sleeved dresses, but I like the shape the sleeves create here. One of my favorite things about Gozon's maxi dresses is the empire bust and silhouette. They always hug my curves, but never cling to them. Plus, this dress has pockets - what more could you want! I say definitely invest in this dress - you'll want to style it up all season long.
You will NEVER guess where I shot this outfit...Baton Rouge! My little hometown is finally stepping it up with some color walls and murals! Now when I visit home, I have banging backdrops to show off gorgeous little dresses like this leggy look from GOZON! This dress is SO. FUN. It's flirty and it's sexy and it's FUN! The mint color and floral print is perfectly lovely, but the high slits and off-the-shoulder fluttering sleeves make it the perfect dress to strut and twirl in - even as the eastern wall of a hurricane is headed directly for you. Did I mention it's practically raining in these pictures? Frizzy hair, don't care.
I'm not sure if this technically is a dress because SURPRISE there's actually a little body suit built into it. Would that make it a playsuit? There's a brief (or shorts depending on how tall you are) sewn in that makes the lines of this look super sleek and it's really comfy. With slits like this you have to wear something underneath, except you don't because it's all built in! I really loved that, even though the first time I put it on, I couldn't figure out why the leg/hip area was so wonky. It took like three times before I saw the brief. Learn from my mistakes so you don't spend three weeks thinking you have a dress that just doesn't fit. Now it's almost (allegedly) fall, so I dressed this up with my new booties from Charming Charlie. I'm not letting go of this dress until the temperature goes down - like way down.
