Couple things about me...red is my power color and I'm so clumsy. So embarrassingly clumsy, like newborn giraffe levels of flailing and uncoordinated movements. So of course, I slammed my leg into my shower door rail on the night before I was going to shoot this look. The shower that I get in every day. The one that didn't magically become 2 inches higher overnight.
TR;DL Don't ever let me hold your baby or iPhone.
Thankfully, I had my poppy red Marc by Marc Jacobs dress to help me still feel like #TheBoss while my leg was turning a grim shade of blue (at least it matches my hair now so...silver lining?). Your power color isn't just a color that looks great next to your skin, it's a color that makes you feel confident and glow inside and out. I'm so excited to transition this LRD (little red dress) into fall too, black tights with booties and I'll probably still be too overdressed for L.A.'s version of autumn.
What else makes me feel confident? The perfect (and personal) accessories. I always wear my Jess Leigh moonstone and My Saint My Hero blessing bracelets, but I felt like I needed some balance (literally) to accentuate this simple-but-not-subtle pop of poppy dress. So I stacked my new favorite coin bangles (and what is a boho girl without coin jewelry?) from Bollywood Chic. The glimmer they add sparks something in this look that makes it even more dynamic.
From me to you - anklets are the new midi rings. If you live in a place that will be hot for...let's be honest MONTHS into Fall, top off your heeled sandals and booties with a glittering little accessory. This is my favorite '90s revival trend....wait, no 2nd favorite behind mood rings. These Seychelles shoes are already cute, shoegasm worthy tbh, but the anklet took them to the next level.
Three fashion miracle happened to me recently: I found an off-the-shoulder dress that looks good on my somewhat linebacker-y shoulders (athlete father problems), I got a new handbag in the most delicious shade of bordeaux (RIP vintage Gucci bag), and it's a bag with fringe! Honestly, every boho girl most own at least one fringed item and have one unnatural hair color per year...it's in our by-laws.
Deux Lux is a fashion miracle all on its own. The bags are animal friendly, come in a variety of shapes (hobos, satchels, and cluthes oh my!), and are available in a menagerie of colors from a buttery blush to a rich cognac. The quality is amazing, no cracked material or fringe flying off to be found here.
Beware, this is one of those brands that could quickly lead to an addiction. One second your looking a the Mod Weekender and trying to justify the cost of a weekend in Palm Springs to put it to good use, and the next your trying to convince all of your friends to get married so you can get a cosmetic case as a bridesmaid gift. Always a bridesmaid, never a bride...I'm only in it for a gift and cake. Especially is the gift is a killer handbag and the cake is red velvet.
Pictured below: Me being at least 43% happier since getting my Mae Hobo. Let me know if you already have a fab DL bag or what you think if you get one! A bucket hobo is hunter, cognac, mink, or stone are on my must-have-next list for fall.
