Sometimes, I think I subconsciously moved to L.A. so I would live somewhere where it's always appropriate to wear resort. RTW is wonderful, and Couture is just lovely - but Resort collections have ALWAYS been my favorite. Probably because resort-wear is literally created for traveling to fantastic faraway locales and lounging specifically on Moroccan rooftops or besides Mykonian pools. Since I can't always get away to Africa or Greece, I settle (happily) for weekend trips to Palm Springs why I can have a proper desert twirl while drinking margaritas with my best babes. Now, thanks to my forever fave Gozon, I have the PERFECT dress from Palm Springs. Palm print for Palm Springs, it's so perfect I can't even stand it!.
I always love an off-the-shoulder moment and I especially love when a mini dress is long enough to cover my butt, honestly. I'm a tall chick, and so many times I try to buy mini dresses and they are so short on me they leave NOTHING to the imagination. This dress is so flowy and free - if I can be chic and cozy at the same time, then goals achieved. I've seen a lot of palm prints lately and what I love about this one (I mean, they're all great) is the pops of fuchsia and that that background is an ocean blue instead of green or white. I think the three together really give the design some dimension and make it even more flattering - in fit and in coloring.
I'm headed to a wedding this weekend, and this is the outfit I'm going to wear because I cannot get enough! Stay tuned for some IG Stories of Mickey Takes Houston - including real time reactions of my super old-school family reacting to my new purple, pink, and blue hair!
Life has been crazy lately, yeah? Do you guys feel it too? Fun fact - I went missing for a minute because I had a super glamorous allergic reaction to a face mask and my ENTIRE TOP LIP blew up. My lips are back to normal, so I'm back to blogging and not a moment too soon because I've been DYING to talk about this dress. It's from Gozon, my obsession obvs, and I hated it at first. I was like - oh no, this will look so bad on my curvy frame - what was I thinking? I avoid horizontal stripes with the same fervor that I avoid all things Michael Kors and the current watered-down version of NYFW. I. WAS. WRONG. Not only is it so flattering in the most curve-hugging-yet-comfy way, it makes me actually look longer and slimmer, and I'm already 5'9". Horizontal stripes that make a person look more long than wide...seriously, what kind of magic?
So, I've been wearing it all the time. To Trader Joe's, to events, to a girl's night out, to showroom meetings. I don't wear heels because heels are joy-stealing monsters, but I do kind of crave that long, slender line that wearing high heels creates sometimes. This dress does that for me. I never in three years of blogging, or thirty years on this planet, thought that a simple garment could so drastically make every part of me look better. I swear, it's just a soft, well-cut maxi dress. Maybe it's an optical illusion, but I'm here for the result. Catch me in this dress at least once a week for the rest of summer, which in L.A. mean until January 4th.
