So instead of being filled with my usual fashion and fun, my last week was filled with the flu. I think I have officially made up for all the sleep I missed in college over the last 10 days. I even feel kind of refreshed? I'm back now, hopefully with no relapse on the horizon, and I am so excited to share this look with you from Make Me Chic! This is another dress that I have been wearing nonstop, I love the contrasting floral prints, the color (blue, duh) and the tunic cut with slight cinching at the waist. Sometimes, boho style dresses can be a little sack-y and that is not the best for my body type. This dress has some shape to it, while being free and flowy which I love. It's a perfect dress for this endless summer aka "I guess every day is going to be a breezy 100 degrees weather" we're having in L.A.
I broke out the booties for the first time this season to style with this dress - perhaps a "if you where them, it will come" ploy to get fall to arrive early this year. All I want is peace in my life and a little crispness to the air, you guys. And tO not break a sweat walking to get an iced (extra ice, pls) coffee. These booties are actually on their last leg, a relic from when I first moved to L.A. - 2 years ago on September 8th, P.S.! I'm chucking them soon, and think I'll glow up to a pair of Rag & Bones. What's you favorite bootie brand? Drop me a comment or some links, I want to stock up this year!
For the first time in my life, I felt like an outfit needed a hat to be complete - and now I'm wondering why I don't have a hat collection that could fill it's own closet! I picked this one up at F21, love the tan color and nude pink/gold braided band. It kept my crazy, always-wanting-to-be-wavy hair down to a shout and added a touch of 70s jetset cool to this outfit. I look like I'm off on a weekend jaunt to Morocco directly following this shoot. That's the life I aspire too.
This is the Nicholas Hoult of dresses aka I want to marry it. You know me by now - I am a boho princess stuck in a kaleidoscope of color + whimsy + retro style. Still, I am IN LOVE with this dress from eShakti (it here AND customizable!). Who would have thunk? I never wear black, I never wear trapeze silhouettes, I never look so classy! Last week, I posted about being in somewhat of a style rut, but this dress pulled me right out of it. With my hourglass body type, I'm always thinking about how to accentuate my waist. I'm so weary of wearing anything that would have a tent affect on my body. I never knew that a trapeze shape would look so good. It makes my shoulders look a normal size for a human being, nothing I have ever worn before makes my shoulders look a normal size. I would insert some joke here about what football position I could play, but I honestly don't know any. Full End or something? Who knows.
I also love that this dress has a natural flare because mama has hips and a butt, as you have probably noticed. It's so comfortable and easy to move around in - clinginess (in men and clothing) makes me so uncomfortable. Also, turns out that black is so slimming...I wonder if anyone else has discovered this? I really wanted to pair this with black heels and turn the class factor up to 11, but wedges is what I had in my car so wedges it was. I like it, gives a summer vibe to this look. I'm going to restyle it for fall and see what I can come up with - stay tuned!
