Long time, no blog. Actually, just 2 weeks which seems like months (or years, some may say) in social media time. I took a much-needed break because I'm gearing up for some really exciting changes and trips starting in February - more on all of that soon! During my time off - I spent a lot of time thinking about what I want to do style-wise in 2018. We as people are always evolving, and though I am a bohemian at heart, I've found my style starting to drift out of the heavily bobo-influenced period I was in for the last 3 or so years. I will always adore a flowing skirt and a dizzy print, and trust I will break out the caftans and turbans during any vacation - but I feel like my style is maturing as I am, so it's time to start exploring other silhouettes, patterns, designers, shapes, and even...pants.
I'm aware that I'm talking about embracing a new style and aesthetic as I'm growing as a person and a fashion blogger, meanwhile here's a look that's 80s/90s as hell. However, fashion is cyclical and I dig the freshness this colorblock sweater from & Other Stories brings to this casual retro-inspired outfit. Quite literally, I look like I could be an extra on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air or A Different World (look it up) and it's giving me life! Something I love about the 80s/90s in fashions is the boldness - there was so much color and so many out-there patterns. The sound and the vibrancy of clothes from that period are loud - so pretty much a perfect match for me. I think that's why I'm so drawn to the combo or red/pink together. You can almost hear the sound it makes - it's pulsating. This sweater is so fun, it POPS, and it's also legit the coziest thing I've ever had against my skin. I'm like v obsessed with the quality of the clothes at & Other Stories. Most importantly - I feel like it's really hard to find a sweater that doesn't feel like you're about to burst in the flames when you're say...jumping on and off of the subway at NYFW. I love a warm sweater, but I hate a hot one. Speaking of NYFW, I just got my tickets to the city and I'm partnering with an AMAZING hotel - I can't wait to share it all!
This is my love letter to Los Angeles. I have spent 3 1/2 years in this amazing city, one I never thought I would leave. However, my nomadic heart let me know about 6 months ago that it was time to start winding down my life here and move on to something else. I think if I stayed more than 3 years anywhere, everyone in my life would die of shock. I love the number 3 - I feel like 3 full years is the perfect time to complete a cycle. I came to L.A. for a new start and to really give this fashion blogger thing a shot - and what do you know? It worked! This city has played such a big part (and literal backdrop) to my career. I figured out how to bring color to my world here, I refined my style here, I got opportunities to go to every Coachella party ever and meet fashion icons I adore and work with companies I'm obsessed with and drink so much free champagne, you guys. Honestly - not too bad for a girl from Louisiana who used to wear her hair crimped...in public. Everything that L.A. has graciously given me is what has prepared me for this next chapter in my life. I'm going to do the thing I always said I was going to do - I'm packing up my life here so I can travel. I love being a fashion blogger, but I think I'll love being a fashion blogger in London and Stockholm and Lisbon even more! I hope that all of you will stay on this journey with me because it's about to get a lot more colorful and a lot more exiting! I can't promise that I'll be jumping out of planes ( because I won't) or swimming with sharks, but definitely stay tuned to see how many piggies I try to take home with me from The Bahamas.
This is also my love letter to all of you! It means the world to me to have so many people read this blog and follow me on Instagram...especially when I disappear for 2 weeks+ because ya girl was tired. Sometimes I forget that people actually listen to and care about what I have to say and what I'm wearing/doing - until you babes remind me by being so supportive of literally everything I post. I hope that with this new phase, I can continue to bring you all content you love that inspires people and really means something. Or maybe you just think it's pretty and fun - hell, that works too! As this year goes on, I'm going to be sharing more about what's coming up and what's going on behind the scenes too! So from me to you - because I'm not one to be subtle - here is so much love to you all and this city! I had to do the most L.A. thing possible to express it - shoot at the LOVE mural in a dress literally covered in hearts from my new favorite shop.
