So this month has been crazy, huh? If I can't keep life in general easy breezy, I can at least make sure my closet is - a perk of being a boho girl. Speaking of, I think I'm going to officially declare it festival season (at least here on the blog) so I can start pulling out some of my boho-iest, flowiest, Coachella-iest looks as we start the lengthy countdown to the best weekend of the year. I'm always a little bummed when I find the perfect dress for Coachella when it's still months away, but they're never wasted as long as I get to share them with you bbs!
People always tell me I should wear white because of my skin tone, but I am admittedly a little afraid of it. I can't make it through one day without banging into a table or dropping my phone on my face. How am I supposed to make it through an entire day of wearing white without ruining it? Especially a light, gauzy white like this dress with delicate black and white embroidery from Zaful. Turns out, I am actually an adult and can be careful if I need to be when fashion is at stake. I can ever wear heels aka these ADORABLE booties from Angelina Shoetique. It helps that they're exceedingly comfortable so I can walk in them without toppling over - lowering the risk of me falling and snagging my dress/getting it dirty. Now that I know I can survive wearing white, I may try it again soon. Stay tuned!
Ok hiiiiiiiiiiiiii, I'm back from my Holiday Hiatus! I didn't even really mean to take one, but I always get hit with a little end-of-year ennui around Christmas and I just went with it. Plus, I was eating non-stop from beignets to gumbo to po-boys and taking photos of anything but food seemed like a nightmare idea in the midst of it.
While I was away, I learned that my hometown has some pretty decent to stellar street art happening. My mom actually took me around to all of them because she knew all of them! Isn't she a peach? I knew I wanted to come back with something as feminine and vibrant as this dress, and thanks to mom - I found it.
I have dubbed this dress from Tidebuy as "Victorian Vintage". It's the ruffled collar and sleeves married with the butted up single-breasted top that really stands out to not just make this dress feel retro, but almost antique. It's also crazy soft and velvet-y, and heavy in the best way. You guys know by now - I love clothing that has some heft to it. It assures me of quality and makes it feel more real almost. Like I'm wearing something subtantial and thought out. I'm not prepared to give up my florals, even in winter - so I am very much in love with these flowers that are practically exploding out from the dark background of the dress. I love all the detail work in the flowers too, you can see each petal, leaf, and stem. I'm just mad for all the motifs present here, and very excited I finally have one winter appropriate garment in my closet. Expect to see this on repeat.
