When Popsugar + ShopStyle invite you to their music-festival-meets-fashion fete, you take a weekend detour to the desert. Armed (literally) with flash tats, boho bangles, and braided bracelets, we put on Drake and made the trip from L.A. to Palm Springs. Our easy 2 hour drive, traffic gods be praised, ended outside of the lush exterior of the Avalon Hotel Palm Springs. This being my first year attending Coachellite (my term for going to the parties but skipping the festival), I had no idea that this stretch of luxury resorts would be simultaneously housing events from the likes of Revolve, Refinery, and Rachel Zoe. Party-hopping has never been so easy.
There's something about Palm Springs that is very retro shabby chic meets high-end luxury. The well-manicured grounds, sunflower hued lounges and beds, and glistening pool at Avalon Hotel were never intimidating, only inviting. Especially given the weather which was an alleged 86 degrees yet felt like 110. Thankfully, we had chilled Lime-a-Ritas to keep us feeling cool and flower crowns from CULT GAIA to keep us looking cool while we weaved through the ShopStyle Villa, the rainbow maze, and took pictures of Mara Hoffman without realizing who it is quickly enough to bow down before the queen of kaleidoscope print swimwear.
Fronted by actual goddess Zoe Kravitz, LOLAWOLF is a delicious amalgamation of hip-hip, synthpop, rock and R&B. A dichotomy of sounds, ferociously hard and chillingly melodic, the five tracks performed capped off a perfect afternoon amongst the mountains and surrounding the pool in Palm Springs. Zoe herself is petite yet powerful. If you know me, you know she's on my "Celebrities I will immediately embarrass myself around because I love them" list*, but her effortless cool entranced the audience and allowed us to see past this glittering notion of an "IT girl" and allowed us to experience LOLAWOLF in its totality and not just as "Zoe Kravitz's Band". Get LOLAWOLF's Calm Down here.
*Also on this list: Grace Coddington, Kate Moss, Michael Fassbender, Nicholas Hoult, and Drake.
I have to say a huge THANK YOU to the gorgeous ladies and gents working the #CabanaClub event. I've been to a lot of fashion parties and events, and you don't always come across the nicest PR girls (says the PR girl). However, everyone from the beauties at the check-in table to the sweet girls handing out gift bags as we strolled out were so kind and friendly. Literally, one girl would not let us leave without this beautiful Bendel backpack. Also, kudos to them for assembling a chill crowd of fashion people you would actually want to spend an afternoon with lounging around a pool and drinking (at least 5) Lime-a-Ritas.
As if the Bendel backpack wasn't enough, it was bubbling over with goodies. Head over to my Instagram where I'll be spilling all (the contents and my favorites inside)!
